This is the renovation of a typical London buy-to let flat. We have here completely transformed this charming one bedroom flat in the heart of London with a modest budget of only £20,000. Through a fusion of styles: the elegance and comfort of the contemporary Italian style and the sophistication of the traditional English style, gdp interiors has remodelled this small flat into a spacious environment, suitable to the modern life style of an urban young couple.
To make this small room more spacious, the kitchen has been painted in a light colour. The blue tiles of the splashback have been replaced with white ones, the worktop, cooker, sink and tap have been replaced. The old cabinet chrome handles have been substituted with modern glass knobs.
In this room we have used some pieces of glass furniture, like the dining table and the coffee table, to make the light circulate throughout and the room feel spacious.
The top hats give a sophisticated traditional English touch above the modern glass dining table.
White is the predominant colour of this small double bedroom and it is here accentuated by the black bedside table and the curtain edging. The whole room is made softer by the warm light of the two wall lights, one on each side of the bed.
In the bathroom we have used a contrast of colours, the very dark floor tiles with the light ivory wall tiles; and a contrast of textures, with the smooth tiles and the matt grain of the plaster walls.
