renovation of an apartment in a building placed in Pigneto neighborhood in Rome.
Total demolition of partitions, realization of revolving walls, construction of a kitchen island, has the common goal to liberate this domestic space by any kind of restrictions to air, light and people circulation.
Revolving walls, respectively 3 and 2,30 meters wide and 3,15 high, provide infinite spacial variations.
The possibility to modify space geometry with a simple gesture, makes possible an unusual interaction between the apartment and the people who live in it.
Usually the intervention of an architect imposes fixed and not editable spaces within which the possibility of customization is reduced to the choice of furnishings.
In this case, we wanted to make possible a continuous relationship between the apartment, imagined as a living organism, therefore capable of changes, and who lives in it.
It should also be considered that within a domestic space the variety of activities that will be carried out over time are difficult to imagine in the design phase.
The creation of an editable space give those who live there an opportunity for creativity and well-being.
