The project to refurbish and extend the Victorian style house was divided in 2 phases: a first excavation period to increase the ceiling heights in the basement floor and a second extension phase to add a new volume on two floors towards the rear garden. The loft area was redesigned and the roof slope increased in order to create an additional liveable floor by adding a new staircase and two dormer windows.
The main brick walls were maintained but the inner stud wall partitions were completely removed and reorganized.
New floor and wall finishes were introduced but the main features of the Victorian style were preserved (original staircase, cornices and mouldings).
The task includes the design of custom made furniture and a special protection screen for the new basement staircase made of laser cut mild steel plates with a pattern inspired by Victorian motives.
