Bormio is a town nestled in the heart of the Italian Alps, and is the center of three of the most prestigious mountain passes, the
undisputed destination for many cyclists.
The business is dedicated to the majestic “Passo dello Stelvio” (stelvio Pass), a climb that every cyclist, at least once in his live, want to face to measure his strength.
From here the idea of two young entrepreneurs to offer a space where cyclists can come together to exchange information, plan their routes and compete in climbing the Stelvio Pass, the Gavia Pass and the Mortirolo Pass.
The operation was characterized as the renewal of an existing bar to attract new customers.
The brief was clear and well defined from the beginning, so we started the renovation of the café covering the existing floor with a dark grey floor paint thus obtaining a unitary surface which it replaced the previous floor composed of old tiles of different colors.
Then we used OSB panels painted black to made a false ceiling and OSB panels painted white to cover some walls.
We have characterized the café with the use of graphics inspired by “Velominati” on the floor, walls and ceilings.
We covered the existing counter with metal plates in which we have engraved the company logo.
The logo has also been included in the base of the stools. The seat of the stools is actually a bicycle seat, according to the brief of the café.
The benches of the café have been relined in black alcantara to fit harmoniously in the general guidelines.
The tables have been painted orange to resume the basic colors of the book Velominati.
On the walls we exposed some wheels of bicycles thet we used as exhibitors of the Tshirts of famous cyclists.
In the entrance area two historical bicycles are exhibited in two banquets in wood and metal with the engraved company logo.
In the store are exposed uniforms that hang from two bicycles fixed to the ceiling. We decided not to expose the uniforms as in a traditional shop, but to use the main theme of the activity (cycling) in this area too, to take care of every detail of the corporate identity. The lighting of the café is made up of LED spotlights and LED strips, according to the owner's desire to create a modern transformation both aesthetically and technologically.
