The apartment that we are going to show you today is located in Wola, a thriving business district of Warsaw, Poland. It occupies a upper floor level of a 1950’s building, and desperately needed a facelift.
The owners sought the help of Better Home. See how Better Home handled this project and eventually transformed it according to their client’s tastes and needs.
The living room was in a complete run down condition. The walls badly needed refurbishing, and the flooring was damaged due to little or no maintenance.
The interior was gloomy. There were signs of moisture related damages, and a portion of the feature wall was covered with wall paper which was removed.
The sunny interior of the nightmarish living room is now a thing of the past. Walls have been refurbished and cheered up with fresh coats of paint. Pale shades help to bounce off light and drive away any residual gloom.
The old sofa still occupies the same spot as before. But it is joined by a couple of new chairs and a matching coffee table. With the help of paintings, potted plants, sculptures and a vase full of flowers this space has been given a new lease of life. The damaged parquet has been replaced with more affordable laminated flooring.
The living room hardly had a layout worth mentioning. A simple couch was set against one of the walls. It had absolutely ‘zero’ organisation and hardly any décor to speak of.
Now the dark green chairs occupy the position of the sofa. The dresser is a one of the existing pieces of furniture still in use. It previously occupied the bedroom, but now it has been given a more prominent position in the living room. A small pouffe with floral upholstery is placed between the chairs.
The colour scheme made this space look gloomy, unhygienic and inhabitable. Once again, there is an acute lack of organisation in the space.
The bedroom also lacked sufficient storage. Even the big window seemed inadequate for brightening up the area.
Hint of lavender ushers a refreshing spring feel into the bedroom. The colour scheme is similar to the lounge area. Now it has been thoroughly decluttered and tidied up, the space looks more expansive than before.
The entire room basks in a warm glow. A small stool serves as a bedside table. The bed is simple but befits the area. Floral paintings adorning the accent wall reemphasises the feeling of springtime regeneration.
This kitchen must have been a dreadful space to work in. The sink and oven, located side by side, were far away from the sources of light. Cabinets and appliances were scattered everywhere, and the wallpaper had no relevance to the rest of the décor.
Now the kitchen work area receives ample light. The refrigerator, oven and sink are still placed side by side. However, the countertop has been removed closer to the window.
White walls and cabinets help to give this modern kitchen a clean and tidy feel.
The entrance suffered from the disorderliness already evident from the other images taken before renovation. Due to a lack of proper planning and arrangement it looked worse than it actually should. The colour scheme and wall décor did not help to brighten up this narrow transitional space.
The hallway suddenly looks more spacious. The walls have been cleaned up and given a fresh gleaming white coat, and a large mirror has been installed to glam it up further.
The balcony seems to have been a storehouse of objects no longer in use. The views of the surrounding have been obstructed by these throwaway pieces of furniture and wood. Though a fold away chair was placed here, there seemed to be no opportunities of relaxation in a space like this.
The space has been cleaned up and given a thorough facelift. This now looks a balcony befitting Wola’s renown as a prestigious business destination of Warsaw. A cosy chat zone has been set up in one part of this tiny balcony. The owners can now enjoy a panoramic view of the rapidly expanding city from here.
