If we’re being realistic, many family homes have reached some pretty messy conditions. It may start with a few dirty dishes in the sink or an overflowing drawer, small everyday problems that everyone has to deal with at some point. Yet, when you factor in the business of a career and raising children, these tasks can get neglected until suddenly, you’re left with so much clutter and chaos that you have to start from scratch.

While we hope you never get to this point, it does happen to many people. If you find yourself in this kind of boat right now, you’ve come to the right place. That’s because the before & after project we will be unveiling will give you hope for a brighter and cleaner future. Thanks to And Company, this shabby home got a new lease of life, and it is able to serve the family that lives here in style.

Yikes! The initial craziness

This kitchen has certainly seen better days. While we’re sure it facilitated many yummy meals and happy family memories, it could really use a sprucing up, for everyone’s sake.

In addition to the clutter, the kitchen fronts are a bit faded and outdated, and the appliances are worn. The few decorations that are here feel kitschy and thoughtless. Let’s see what our lovely designers had in store for this space.

Stellar & uspcale

There’s no doubt about it. This refurbished kitchen is brilliantly upscale and trendy. Between the exposed brick, subway tiles and bench style seating, this space is a far departure from the original look.

The resin floor and warm glow emanating from the built in lights above the false ceiling help to complete this lovely ambience.

The entryway

The home was remodelled with a strong eye for detail. Even the most humble of spaces were included in the renovation.

For example, this entryway was outfitted with a convenient cabinet perfect for storing the outerwear and shoes of each family member. This is an excellent way to curb the clutter that can accumulate in daily life. There is also a sliding door so that the family can hide this area from view when they want to.

Delightful living space

We see the false ceiling at play in this contemporary living room as well. The furniture is industrial chic and simple, and the colour scheme is kept neutral to help enhance the spatiality of the room. The design team was even able to fit a workspace with enough room for two on the back wall.

The workspace

Let’s take a closer look at the fitted worktable that spans entirely across the back wall.

A simple wooden plank helps to fully maximise space by functioning as a shelf for storing books and DVDs as well as a wide desk where two people can work at once. Yet at the same time its minimalist configuration also means that it only takes up the necessary amount of space – nothing more.

A multipurpose room

As we delve even deeper into this home’s interior, we come upon this multipurpose room. The ample shelf storage for books and other objects makes this an excellent study space or hobby room.

Meanwhile, the large wooden table and six accompanying chairs could certainly accommodate a large family meal. The neutral colour tones create a calming ambiance to facilitate better focus.

The dressing room

Even for a person living alone, dealing with clothing storage can be tricky. When you begin to grow a family this struggle is compounded. Therefore, a solid storage and organisation strategy is an absolute must.

This household has it covered with this heavy duty shelving system. There is enough room for multiple family members to store off season clothing and other bulky items. What a clever use of this narrow room!

Balcony turned bathroom

Another clever renovation has taken place in this old balcony, which was converted into a bathroom. The brick wall on the right serves as evidence of the old balcony, while the other three walls were added in the renovation.

Because of the large windows and exposed brick, the bathroom maintains a uniquely urban feel. The freestanding tub fits neatly into this cosy space.
