A lot of homes these days could be categorized as modern, and with good reason. The modern style of home manages to blend comfort with usability, giving you, the owner, a huge variety of choices in how you wish the shape your living experience. Thanks to this mutability, most architects choose to use the modern style, or some aspects from it, when they go out and build homes.

However, possibly the greatest thing about the modern style, is the way in which it can adapt and absorb other styles. Because it is so open, the style allows for other bits and pieces to come through, and offer up an added bit of flavour to the whole space.

And it is exactly one of these types of modern homes that we have prepared for you today. While at first glance the whole space may come off as modern, and for a good reason, there are touches of something else peppered around the area, playing around with your expectations, and creating something wholly unique. So if you're looking for ways of mixing things up, get ready and scrolls below.

Resplendent living

The living room before you is most certainly a living room with a capital L. Thanks to its large size, the room manages to fit up to three sections, all of which serve a unique purpose, but all of which are unified by the singular style of shades of brown and white. In the very back, there is a minibar, which provides refreshments for long days, and when guests come over. Right next to that, we have the area with the table, which is nicely enclosed, creating a mini-living room inside the large one. This section manages to create its own identity thanks to the blue armchairs and the patterned carpet. After getting a drink, this is the place to enjoy it.

The final section is right next to the TV, with two large armchairs pointed straight at it. Thanks to the directness of the chairs, the purpose of this section is quickly revealed. Even more attention is placed on the TV, thanks to the darker shade of wood that is used to highlight the screen.

For added measure, there are little bits and bobs littered around the room, adding touches of personality, including the little vases underneath the counter, the art pieces next to the TV, and the paintings, that are especially highlighted, thanks to the illuminated frame. If you've got a large space, it's a shame to dedicate it all to one thing. Split the room off into different sections, and watch how it all naturally comes together.

Trimmed down ktichen

As opposed to the previous room, that enjoyed its large space, the kitchen is slightly more compact and trimmed down, focusing on the main purpose of the room, and that is the making of food. That being said, while the kitchen is smaller, it doesn't mean that it's in any way tiny. There is still plenty of space for more than one person to cook, ensuring that multiple meals can be cooked at once.

On the design side of things, the sleekness of the space gives way to a more streamlined experience. The main counter immediately draws your attention with its dark background, announcing itself as a place of work. This is in contrast to the rest of the space, which chooses to use the more airy colours of the previous room. The kitchen also splits up the top and bottom sections of the counter, with the top using frosted glass, and the bottom the light wood panel, that can also be seen next to the fridge.

Overall, this space manages to give off the feel of modernity, without loosing the more personal and airy feel of the rest of the home.

A more traditional dining experience

Switching now over to the more rustic section of the home, this dining room still maintains the modern feel of the place, best exemplified by the circular chandelier, while also dipping into more rustic waters. These rustic styling are best seen in the back, surrounding the furnace. The whole space adopts a brick background, making the area seem more varied and dynamic. It also spills into the plates, each adorned with a different pattern, but all sticking to the rustic sensibilities.

Continuing this style is the large table with benches. The paired down, minimal approach perfectly expresses the rustic style, and the whole place is given a great dose of colour from the various tiles that cover the counter that sections off the far side of the dining room from the tables.

As mentioned before, the modern style does come in, but it is further sectioned off by a bunch of curtains, allowing you to isolate it. This separation allows you to choose the style most appropriate for dinner, while not distracting yourself or your guests with anything else. When mixing styles, it's important to make sure that each gets its due, and this is best achieved with something like the curtains.

Sewn together bedroom

Continuing the more rustic inspiration, this bedroom takes it one step beyond, producing something absolutely amazing. While it pretty much sticks to the set colour scheme of the rest of the room, that being various shades of brown mixed with a bit of white for the extra pop, it manages to create its own identity thanks to the material used.

Instead of relying on boring old paint, the walls use pieces of string in an almost crochet pattern, thus giving the room a far more dynamic feel. This crochet pattern comes in different styles, with the wall next to the bed having a more complex pattern. But it doesn't just stop at the walls. The pillows also adopt a similar pattern, further emphasizing the rustic style of the room. To get a bit of a rest from all the designs, the white areas provide a calm place to look at, and are the only real sections modernity in the room.

There's a lot that you can get if you dedicate yourself to a style, and luckily, this bedroom is a perfect example of just that.

Back to basics bathroom

Coming back from the two amazingly rustic rooms, we have an equally stellar modern bathroom. Just like with the living room, this bathroom offers plenty of space, meaning that it is equipped with both a large bath and an amazing shower space, which is nicely sectioned off by the glass partition.

The counter with the sinks both follow the modern trend of elevated basins, preventing any unwanted spillage. As a way of drawing attention to itself, the main source of colour comes from the brown storage space underneath, which shines out amongst all the white. Thanks to the window, there's plenty of light to go around, and due to the amount of space, this bathroom can be used by multiple people at once, making the morning rush a little bit easier on everyone.

With all that space at your disposal, you can even try to do something a bit more strange with your bathroom. For further styles and ideas that you could bring to a space this size, this article collects some of the best from the past year. So feast on some of the best of 2016, and wait for inspiration to hit.
