Two storeys seems to be the perfect size home for us! The homes on our list have incredible facades and unique features. Architects from our list have layered and stacked to create incredible shapes and designs. Let’s take a look at some of the most inspiring two-storey homes we have ever seen.

1. Bright and modern

This home has a cheerful white facade that contrasts with its black garage doors. There’s an upstairs patio with wood detail in the ceiling to give the house warmth. The angular lines and shapes of the house make the look modern. We love the second storey window on the front of the house.

2. Bold facade

The bold design of this house makes this the most eye catching house on the block.  One long row of clerestory windows high on the wall allow natural light to proliferate. A cool and almost institutional exterior provide plenty of privacy for the residents. The top storey seems to be spilling over the first, creating a striking top-heavy house design.

3. Mediterranean style

An off-white exterior paired with a terracotta roof makes for a delightful mediterranean style house. The detailed black ironwork on the balconies is a darling addition. We love the covered terrace because it's a great space for entertaining and enjoying the outdoors.

4. Wood and concrete

This ultramodern wood and concrete home is stunning. The minimalist aesthetic is inviting and its facade creates beautiful depth and intriguing lines for the house. The wood brings a natural and traditional material to contrast the industrial style concrete.

5. Brilliant glazing

This home features incredible glazing that opens the house up to the stylish exterior. The two storey look of the house is even more appealing because of the bold window design. Floor to ceiling windows make the home appear larger and brighter. The private courtyard is full of outdoor seating areas and patches of lush grass.

6. Modular structure

This modular non-traditional home design is incredible! Overlapping floors create a mixed level feel that also creates a covered deck. The single room in the front of the home with a unique wall treatment. There is a dramatic entrance to this home and a modernized stone wall on the back of the plot that updates a traditional style.

7. Open top floor

The bottom level of this modern two-storey house is reserved while the upstairs is open and bright. Full floor to ceiling windows upstairs open up to a narrow balcony that’s full of potential. The top floor hangs out over the first, creating a covered entryway and patio space. Check out the stylish staircase featured in the window on the first floor.

8. Brick minimalism

This fabulous house incorporates all of our favourite design elements into one minimalist and well rounded home. The brick of the house provides texture and personality while the generous glazing updates the home. We get a full view of the open plan main floor and a classy backyard with a garden decorated with stones and tiles. We love use of minimalism design and the brick touches on the home.

9. Poolside attraction

This compact home features a turquoise swimming pool and beige stone details. Balcony and terrace space make this home open up to the outside. The glass and aluminium touches make the design of the home more sleek. Lush green landscaping surrounds the home and frames the white exterior beautifully.

10. Sunny warmth

This is one of the warmest houses we’ve ever seen. Clad in orange stone and highlighted with saturated wood, the home exudes sunny energy. The simple entry way with its modern wood door is inviting. We love the corner windows and geometric shape of the stacked orange stones.
