This home, designed by Seoul-based architects HOMESTYLETOTO, is fun and playful. While all of their homes are individual and unique, they also exhibit some similar qualities; namely the materials selections.

The white exterior combined with metal sheet cladding, timber, and a bold accent colour is characteristic of the designers aesthetic.

On the interior, their homes are bright, open and connected – and not afraid of a bit of fun! This home is no exception – complete with an indoor slide – let's take a closer look…

The exterior

Here we can see that material composition – the bold accent that has been chosen in this case is a vibrant golden yellow.

A low-level gabion wall directs towards the organic stone path leading to the house. These organic lines contract the sharp rectilinear geometries of the home.

The entry

A black-stained timber deck mediates the home and the garden, creating a pause before entering the home. The change in level creates a ledge seat at the window.

An additional step in required to enter through the front door which again elevates the moment of crossing from the exterior to the interior.

The kitchen

Stepping inside, to the kitchen, we can see they have opted for a bold accent in this space too. This time, it is bright red, in the form of butchers tiles along the back wall. The remaining colour scheme is reasonably restrained: black and grey.

The feature light over the island is eye catching and adds that industrial edge we all seem to love so much!

The dining room

Adjacent the kitchen, located in a slightly raised space, is this beautiful dining space. Windows line two of the walls and a beautiful timber screen the other, while a houndstooth patterned floor surface hosts an incredible timber ground level table. It's all topped off with the subtle, yet elegant, pendant light fixture.

What a charming space! Take a look here for plenty more dining room inspiration!

The stair

The two levels are connected by this incredible stair, housed in an even more incredible light well. Skylights let ample natural light into the void, which is borrowed by the adjacent spaces on the upper level.

The timber stair features a stainless steel slide running alongside it – how's that for a bit of fun and playful design?!

The office

One of the adjacent spaces on the upper level is this office and library area. The long timber table looks over the light-filled void toward the lower level and an inbuilt bookcase lines the back wall.
