We all love a classic 'from drab to fab' home story occasionally. Certain styles come and go, but the combination of black and white is a classic that will (hopefully) never become out-dated and boring.

This Valencia penthouse spent the beginning of its life as a dark, mismatched yawn of a home until Spanish renovators Acertus conquered it. Nowadays, the penthouse is a stylish, modern home full of light, life and calm. Let's show you its shocking transformation!

The Ex-Living Room

Poor lighting mixed with a somewhat garish colour clash, this living room had a lot of potential that was't truly realised until now…

Box wardrobe

While the inner minimalists of some may be bouncing about with joy, most people would find this stark and lifeless wardrobe a major turn off and the basic light does very little to accentuate the right aspects of the design.

Dressing room

The mixture of yellow wallpaper, white chair and black paneling may spark interest in some, but boredom in most. Far too drab for it's own good, this dressing room shows the non-commital nature of the owner, a vibe that anyone with a dressing room doesn't want to give off!

Simple in it's design, the black panel window inserted into the white wall sticks out like a sore thumb, immediately drawing the eyes. When the eye is finally peeled away, the black wood panel of the wall behind the bed does very little to open up the room despite the warm reading lights used to light it up.

Zen Office

Bright and airy, the combination of light grey wallpaper with light wooden panelling, creates the sense of peace and will no doubt provide refuge for any busy worker. The glass table blends in, not creating any clutter and the ergonomic office chair will make sure to preserve the posture of even the worst of slouchers!

The Secret Garden

Blending in amongst the rest of the house, this garden hides in plain sight, allowing anyone looking for a bit of a break to rest their weary bones and recharge some lost energy. The design of the table is simple, yet not jarringly so. The clean, white furniture is modern and minimalistic, leaving plenty of room for the refreshing potted plant life dotted around the area.

This way to Narnia

Instead of having several colours clash with one another, the new design is carefully arranged to be totally in sync with itself.

A combination of pale beiges, creams and an abundance of natural light creates the relaxing and comfortable atmosphere in which to decide what to wear for the day ahead (or which set of pyjamas to lounge around in for the whole day). The spacious wardrobes will make you feel like you're entering a winter wonderland of fur coats…

Brand new bedroom

For those of us who love to live in the lap of luxury, this room is the ideal model to work from when designing your own. It's draped in faux furs and soft, fluffy carpet, cosy cushions and pillows and is barely furnished so you can breathe in peace and quiet.

The feature wall adds a flair of art and makes the room come alive with action. The red cabinets add a dash of exciting colour, this particular shade of red bringing a bit of passion to the room. Additionally, the room feels enormous now that there's plenty of natural light to go around!

Cloud 9

Released from the dark wood panelling, this new living room marries creamy colours with plenty of light from the massive window, creating the sense of being inside a chocolate éclair. Or in a cloud. Or inside a chocolate éclair on a cloud.

The furniture blends into the background so well, that you'll find yourself sitting down and relaxing without even noticing. The new marble floors feel fit for royal feet and the rug really ties the large, cosy room together.
